My name is Abbi and I have been with the shelter since March of 2015. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and graduated from The Vet Tech Institute at International Business College. My passion is shelter work, although it can be an extremely emotional and demanding job, somebody needs to be there for these animals when they have no one else. Since school, my husband and I have adopted 5 cats and 3 dogs- all shelter animals. We lost our dear Monty in the fall of 2018 and my best friend Sable June in September of 2020. Our current animals include 4 cats; Leo, Nigel, Merida, and Phoebe, a St. Bernard, Olaf, and Mia, a pitbull. We frequently have shelter animals that may come over for a weekend stay every now and then too. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and lounging by the pool with a good book.

Hi! My name is Brandy, I've been with HSWC since February 2024. I became a registered veterinary technician in 2013. I started working with animals in 2008 at a cat shelter in Chicago, IL. I instantly fell in love with shelter work! I've worked at a few different veterinary hospitals and animal shelters. I took a breif hiatus from animal welfare from 2020-2024 where I processed specimens in the lab at a hospital.
I live with my husband and our 6 pets. We have one dog- Lando (a small wire haired terrier mix) and 5 cats- Skipper, Quill, Gooba, Bubbles and our new HSWC alum Lil Mama. In my free time I enjoy creating a variety of arts and craft projects, working on house improvements with my husband and traveling with him as much as possible. I am so excited to work with animals again!

Hi, my name s Michelle and I joined the shelter in January of 2024. I adopted my dog Bibbs as a puppy rescued from a dog fighting ring in northern Indiana. She was used as "fight bait" so she's blind and had several broken bones that were never set. She is the perfect dog in my eyes. Since joining the shelter, my husband and I have adopted Jack, a one-eyed cat to join our family. I've worked in several non-profits on the business end and I'm excited to bring that experience and my passion for "not so perfect" animals together. I'm happy to be part of this great HSWC team!

My name is Stacey and I have worked here since 2011. I have always loved animals and the challenge of training them. I've worked with dolphins, sea lions, parrots, and dogs. I currently have 4 dogs. Their names are Jack, Beuford, Chloe, and Murphy. I find shelter work an extremely rewarding career.
